CCORDING to the National Board of Fire Underwriters the brick triple
fire house, 522 to 526 Palisade Avenue, in the Hudson City section, is one of
the finest and most up-to-date fire houses in the United States. It was recently constructed and is
three stories in height with all modern improvements.
The engine is a first size Metropolitan steam fire engine with front
drive tractor attached, making it motor-propelled. The tender is a
high pressure American La France
auto combination chemical wagon
with invincible nozzle attached. The
truck is an American La France motor-propelled seventy-five-foot self-raising aerial apparatus with water
tower attached, and has all modern
improvements, including a Browder
life net. A reserve engine is on duty
at all times in the above house, that
in the event of a large fire it can
be assigned to any section of the
city for emergency use.
