Three Alarm Fire at 180 Webster Avenue

On January 23, 1996, at 0051 hrs., companies responded to a fire reported at 260 Central Avenue, which was a one story 50' x 150' furniture store. Engine Company 18 arrived on the scene at 0051 hrs. after people from the neighborhood pounded on the firehouse door to report the fire. A second alarm was transmitted upon arrival. The fire progressed to three alarms. The building was totally destroyed. Exposure two and four received only minor damage. The fire was under control at 0430 hrs.
