Three Alarm Fire at 260 Central Avenue

On January 23, 1996, at 0050 hrs., companies responded to a fire reported at 260 Central Avenue, which was a furniture retail store named “Bargaintown Furniture”. Engine Company 18 arrived on the scene at 0051 hrs. after being notified by civilians who came to the firehouse half a block away. The fire progressed to 3 alarms. The fire was under control at 0430 hrs. The building had to be torn down a few days later.
