 JERSEY CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT

 3 Alarm Fire at 423 Claremont Avenue

 

On November 24, 1997, at 2112 hrs., companies responded to a fire reported at 423 Claremont Avenue, which was a vacant block-long warehouse. Engine Company 17 arrived on the scene at 2114 hrs. The fire progressed to a 3 alarm fire at 2130 hrs. The structural integrity of the building was in question and could not be searched until the fire was completely extinguished. The fire was under control at 2337 hrs. Afterwards during a search a lifeless body was found under debris. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
