"Our City's compliance with ADA regulations has been on-going. All departments have kept us informed of services and programs performed as well as deficiencies in accessibility," Mayor Schundler said.
The ADA, enacted in 1990, provides comprehensive civil rights protection to individuals with disabilities in the areas of employment , public accommodations, state and local government services and programs and telecommunications. It prohibits all state and local governments and some private businesses from discriminating on the basis of disability. ADA is part of the protected class under affirmative action, which is part of Title VII in the Civil Rights Bill.
