On Monday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m., Mayor Bret Schundler will host the "Excellence in Athletics" awards ceremony in the Municipal Council Chambers. At this time, Mayor Schundler will present certificates to the members of athletic teams who won championships during the recent scholastic winter season.
The teams being honored are from Dickinson High School, Hudson Catholic High School, Lincoln High School, Saint Aloysius High School, Saint Dominic Academy, Saint Peter's Preparatory School and the Saint Peter's College MAAC Conference women's basketball champions.
"This ceremony is intended to recognize the outstanding individual and team achievements of the Jersey City scholastic-athletic community. The students being honored today are joining a long-standing legend of outstanding Jersey City athletes," said Mayor Bret Schundler.
Similar ceremonies are held after the fall and spring sports seasons to recognize outstanding athletes all year round.
