Jersey City
Mayor Bret Schundler, the Korean-American Cleaners Association of New Jersey, and the Korean-American Chamber of Commerce have again joined forces this year to collect 20,000 coats and other articles of clothing to help the homeless and needy this holiday season. The 20,000 surpasses the 3,000 collected last year. The coats and clothing will be officially donated by Korean community leaders to the Mayor and the City on the steps of City Hall on Monday, December 4, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. Joining the Mayor will be leaders from other ethnic and religious leaders from Jersey City.
"During this season of giving, I'm proud of the Korean leaders of New Jersey and their efforts to help the less fortunate. Their selfless gesture to the needy is an inspiration. The overwhelming abundance of coats and clothing are symbols of the harmony in our great City of Jersey City. It couldn't have happened at a better time," Mayor Schundler said.
