Jersey City
Due to the recent catastrophic earthquake in India, the Office of Mayor Bret Schundler has been working in conjunction with Dr. Vijaya Desai, Lynn McFarland with the Jersey City Medical Center of Public Affairs, Jersey City Police and Fire Departments and Patricia Ryan from St. Peter's College to raise donations in order to aid the victims of this natural disaster. Mayor Schundler is also grateful for the efforts of Vinod Kothari, Mono Sen and Manoj Kumar Patel for rallying together Jersey City's Indian Community to help their brothers and sisters abroad.

"Ahmedabad, a sister-city of Jersey City, along with other regions of India, deserve our best efforts to help ease suffering there. Our prayers are with the victims and their families of this horrific disaster," stated Mayor Schundler.

The Mayor's office encourages the medical community to donate anti-biotics, bleaching powder, syringes, wheelchairs and crutches. Also needed are blankets, tents, flashlights, batteries, clothing, canned food and dry goods.
