Other speakers will include Korean Ambassador, Mr. Ho; Korean Association President, Mr. Lee; Representing the Korean Seniors Association of New York and New Jersey, Mr. Ha; and President of Princeton Undergraduate Student Government, Mr. Kim.
Mayor Schundler stated, "I take great joy in commemorating the rich ethnic diversity found in Jersey City and abroad. The Korean culture has offered our communities so much in terms of family values and cultural richness. Jersey City, being home to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, is proud to hold this celebration of Korean heritage."
The flying of kites has over 1,300 years of history in Korea as one of the most widely favored year-around activities for all ages. Flying kites is one way Koreans express their hopes and dreams through writing or drawing their ambitions on the face of the kites.
