Jersey City -- On Wednesday, May 30, Mayor Bret Schundler will cut the ribbon on Jersey City's new state of the art Municipal Justice Complex.
Approximately ten percent of the statewide municipal court volume is expected to pass through the new 70,000 square foot facility, making it the busiest municipal court in New Jersey. The complex, which has been under construction for two years, comprises 6 courtrooms that will enable eleven judges to hold 60 plus court sessions per week. About 90 employees are assigned to the complex, which is expected to process over 400,000 items annually.
The facility will also house the Public Defender's office, the Probation Department, the Police Bureau of Criminal Identification, the Police Property Room, the Scofflaw Warrant Squad, and the Police Court Security Unit, among others.
