DIRECTION: Continue west on York Street to five similar
brownstones facing the Park on its south side
These houses have Italianate form but the approach to
ornamental features is more advanced. The stone is routed
mechanically with incised decorative lines and decorations
that are of Eastlake inspiration. This is seen in the entrance
hood, window surrounds, and cornice. Notice the decorative
forms are not copies of natural forms but are inspired by them.
The stoop cast-iron is very light. These houses date to before
1887.
