DIRECTION: Continue east along Wayne Street. Notice the
ironwork in this block. Greek Revival ironwork is
principally composed of light bars that swirl at
the bottom into a "basket" newel post where the
handrail spirals. Just before the newel is a boot
scraper, where the omission of one vertical bar
creates an opening for the boot.
This house has representative Greek Revival stoop-ironwork.
The simple drip mold seen on 62 Wayne here gets translated to
stone over the window openings in the brick masonry.
